Manager of School Counselors

Laurel Springs School seeks Certified School Counselors to fill the Manager of School Counselors position for their online K-12 school.

This opportunity is located in the West Chester, PA office and is a 12 month position. This is not a remote/virtual position.

About the Opportunity

The position requires wide exposure, experience, and proficiency in catering to the needs of the school & students. The successful candidate will supervise the high school and middle school counselors and manage multiple components of this process, including but not limited to:

·     Serve as a leader with a management style and philosophy that is consistent with the mission and vision of the school.

·     Assist in the creation and implementation of policies consistent with the school philosophy and with Laurel Springs School initiatives.

·     Promote a positive school culture focused on the unique needs and educational environment of online/distance students.

·     Use technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to ensure that appropriate school counseling standards are implemented and to communicate and collaborate with staff, guardians, students, and the larger community.

·     Assist the Director of Education to develop, implement, and monitor the annual Education budget for the school.

·     Assist the Director of Education in the selection of appropriate individuals for school counseling services to support the students.

·     Represent the school at meetings and conferences on the local, state, and national level - serving as an expert in the area of online education and technologies and occasionally making presentations pertaining to the field.

·     Keep abreast of changes in state, national, and international developments in school counseling practices through the attendance of professional meetings and conferences, the development of relationships with professionals in the field, and participation in the affairs of professional organizations.

·     Identify, communicate, model, and enforce social, legal, and ethical practices resulting in responsible, safe, and secure uses of technology throughout the school community.

·     Develop and implement creative student focused retention solutions.

·     Be proactive in addressing professional staff issues.

·     Oversee the comprehensive counseling curriculum revision process and ensure that the content is consistent with state, national, and international requirements.

·     Ensuring that Academic Standards and requirements for college acceptance are incorporated across the school while meeting the students’ needs.

·     Leading live webinar sessions which focus on supporting students development both academically based and social opportunities.

·     Creating meaningful communications, such as newsletters, that focus on needs specific to our population of students on a regular basis.

Regular and frequent phone contact with parents including prospective families who are engaged in the Admissions process.

·     Experience implementing group support programs with measurable objectives.

·     Supervisory experience with successful implementation of new programs.

·     Analytical, interpretive, evaluative, and constructive thinking skills required.

·     Possesses basic math skills.

·     School Counseling Certification, Master’s Degree preferred.

·     3+ years of experience teaching or working in a school setting supporting specifically targeted audiences – Middle School or College Counseling.

Temporary Faculty Position in School Counseling

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.

 The Department of Counseling and Student Affairs at Kutztown University invites applications for a temporary full-time position in its school counseling program beginning January 2013.  The candidate must have a masters degree, school counseling certification and a minimum of three years of school counseling experience.  An earned doctorate in Counselor Education or related field and five years school counseling experience is preferred.  In addition, preference will be given to applicants with experience in Clinical Supervision, evidence of effective teaching, research productivity and LPC/NCC status.
